Had a guild meeting this monday, and I want to express some joy for this new element in my life and encouragement for others to look at introducing the idea into theirs! I've a fresh discovered feeling of empowerment and support. It is the knowledge of hands at your back that begins to follow you simply in the awareness that others are committed to speaking and listening once every few months. A group who meet up with the purpose of supporting each other in their journey…through listening, and just being there, it can add a great sense of belonging and worth, even by the second meet, and even only through skype! I'm uncertain that there are many people who feel that they were completely supported in their dreams and actions when growing up, understandably, because of so many factors, but this follows into adulthood. Generally a deep sense of 'I can' is hard to achieve, and much harder when we feel like no one cares for our cause. The support that a guild gives is is not really a thing that can be put into words, but a feeling, one with big consequences. Imagine if children were given the opportunity of a guild, or maybe a few…imagine the strength in people if they continued on with these groups for years! The four questions (see below) are progressive and allow you to keep track of yourself. I ask myself every morning ‘how am I?’ and ‘what do I want?’ and this is like my own little support group. It makes it easier to be more clear in life about these two questions, and the same with the support guild-I seem to slowly become a lot more articulate and easy with the questions of how my life is going, for myself and others. Getting insight into how other people are happy, struggling etc opens up your world to bigger than your own, and you see similarities, differences and can take example from how others are dealing with their obstacles. In terms of the diploma I feel pride for the work and achievements of others and I want to keep up with them and keep my word of support. And I will certainly look to form guilds in the future and spread their benefits! See here for a quick guide on how our action learning guild works x
Happy New Year! This is going to be a good one, I'm pretty sure of it! Keep on with what you believe in, and push push push those boundaries!!!
This afternoon I'm learning my way around Prezi... a presentation tool. It's not really 'my thing' so hence the learning! I'm looking forward to mixing hand created stuff with photos and movies all in one package, I hope it will have a nice impact on my next PR. Oh, and this video gave me a bit of courage after a hard time trying to connect with the generation above today... Big love x |
